Abstract: AmbientEase is a Canadian company advancing the design, development, and exploration of mobile, nomadic, and agile tools and infrastructures in support of formal and informal learning and educational spaces. AmbientEase prototypes, tests, and studies the impact of emergent adaptive solutions for distributed interactive learning environments. Specifically, AmbientEase works toward the combining of two technologies – a) smart and intelligent information systems and b) edgewareTM (WiGiT Lab conceptualization), a new form of software applications, supporting ad hoc forming and dissolving of communication networks. Wireless grid networks can be generated on an as-needed basis, dynamically making use of content and resources present in devices. Edgeware is described as software that operates at the edges of networks to leverage the capabilities of grid architecture. AmbientEase is evolving edgeware gridlets into robust learning tools based on research with learners and educators.
