Abstract: The purpose of this survey research was to understand the beliefs of college of education faculty members about teaching online and how to support online teaching faculty. The study focused specifically on faculty’s attitude about online teaching. Results indicate that while participants perceive teaching online to require more work and more communication with students than face-to-face classes, most faculty felt that online teaching is necessary to meet student needs and that students can learn equally well in online classes as in face-to-face classes. Additionally, many faculty acknowledged the flexibility and convenience that online teaching affords them. The results of this study have implications for those who teach online as well as those who support them.
