Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has had extensive immediate and potentially long-lasting influences on numerous aspects of our lives, and has had a particularly profound impact on K-12 and post-secondary education. As teacher educators and teacher candidates are shifting to remote and blended learning environments as the norm, school districts and colleges of education are transitioning from the initial “survival” phase to more closely examining how they prepare and support teachers for these new environments. In this Birds of a Feather session, we will explore current and diverse ways in which schools and teachers are coping with the impacts of COVID-19 on the teaching and learning environment through consideration of three scenarios, and will work together to envision how we can impact preservice and inservice teachers’ practices through the lens of the leadership role of faculty members in higher education.
