Abstract: Technology instruction in teacher education today must address the diverse learning needs of the full range of students who are increasingly present in the general education classroom. Several recent initiatives in the field of general education and special education hold promise in addressing this need to broaden technology instruction in teacher education. This panel will discuss three such initiatives: response to intervention (RtI), assistive technology (AT), and universal design for learning (UDL), offering attendees a view of an online project being developed that will provide tools to address an expanded educational technology model for teacher education. Attendees will be invited to participate in on-going action research on the efficacy of this project, called Learning Blocks, currently in development for teacher preparation programs in the fields of instructional and assistive technology.
