Abstract: This session is designed to support teacher educators in enhancing their understanding of how e-technologies can facilitate global education and bring the world into the classroom.
Participants will explore how to utilize collaborative, project-based, student-driven, technology-enabled, international learning projects to meet traditional US and international benchmarks in creative ways. Presenters will share resources and model strategies for introducing these resources to teacher candidates.
Presenters will present strategies and tools helpful in identifying and selecting global learning projects. To illustrate global partnerships, participants will explore iEARN ((International Education and Resource Network) a k-12 global inquiry project, review resources from ITEN the teacher education section of the Organization of American States (OAS) and discover how teacher educators from around the world are participating in a 21st century course that models digital age instruction.
Objectives
This session will enable teacher educators to effectively prepare teacher candidates to:
1) Introduce an online collaborative global projects into their classrooms
2) Use strategies and tools useful for identifying and selecting high quality global learning projects
navigate and participate with key websites and available resources, including iEARN ((International Education and Resource Network) a k-12 global inquiry project, and ITEN (the teacher education section of the Organization of American States - OAS)
3) Discuss the advantages and challenges of integrating online global Project-Based Learning into their instruction as a tool for developing 21st century skills.

Prerequisites
Participants should be teacher educators who have an understanding of teacher preparation and professional development and have an interest in global education. Knowledge of project based learning is not ncessary. No particular technology skills are necessary as the skill building will be a part of the workshop experience.
