Abstract: Adventure Learning (AL) has inspired students all over the world. AL is a hybrid distance education approach that provides students with opportunities to explore real-world issues through authentic learning experiences within collaborative learning environments (Doering, 2006). This brief paper shares valuable lessons learned as a result of multiple AL pilot expeditions that highlight local spaces. AL@ is the coupling of AL and place-based education.
