Online Professional Development for Part-time Instructors: FaculTEA

Abstract: Online part-time faculty are an integral part of keeping online programs running and often contribute greatly to the instruction of online education However, part-time instructors in online environments often feel disconnected such as not being included in meetings or having interactions with peers This presentation will show how a new online tool, FaculTea, was used to engage online part-time instructors in professional development FaculTea is a quick 15-minute professional development for part-time faculty using Blackboard Collaborate Voice, video, chat talk area, PPT slides, and screen sharing can be used to discuss a specific topic For example, topics can include new tools or software to use in class, helpful tips for grading, creating rubrics, or interacting with students regarding controversial topics
