Abstract: This study investigated how technology can be used to enhance reading lessons. In small groups, teacher candidates (n = 36) in the Developmental Reading Methods and Assessment course selected one lesson that had been previously taught during a 15-hour lab placement. The lesson was enhanced with a technology tool that was self-selected or chosen from a teacher educator provided list. The enhanced small group lesson was shared with peers. Reflections were completed following each presentation which described enhancements, challenges, and ways to incorporate the new technology into future lessons. Results showed that intentional incorporation of technology into a methods course within a teacher education program allowed for new technologies to be easily infused into a reading lesson which had previously been taught. The teacher candidates were enthusiastic about learning new technology tools and the possibilities of teaching with technology in their own classroom.
