Abstract: Storybook apps are a rapidly growing type of digital text that targets young children, aged birth to pre-school. This group of apps is especially important to study because the developers of these apps are able to write, illustrate, and publish apps that can be downloaded onto an internet-connected device with minimal oversight. This pilot study presents a methodology for analyzing storybook apps and applies it to a selected number of apps. This presentation will share emerging themes and implications for teacher educators to apply them to their instruction and research.
