Abstract: We planned the utilization of smartwatches to monitor students’ activities and mental status in classroom using accelerometer sensor and heart rate sensor built in the device. As the first step, we experimentally collected data in the group learning classroom situation, and tried to analyze some of those data to see whether the data from those sensors can be used to understand students' statuses and behaviors. We observed that accelerometer sensor data can be used to observe students behaviors and their characteristics, and that the heart rate data can be used to monitor the increase and decrease of students' relaxation or stress, in other words, students’ engagements or acceptance on designated tasks in the class.
