Abstract: The field of education has been focusing on ornamenting the new generations with the common social values which are crucial to form peaceful future societies. Noticing the fact that new technologies have an important impact on learning, the need for integrating ICT into the teaching environment has become inevitable for most schools, including the topic of moral values via Digital Storytelling (DST). The power of stories can be proven by looking at the transmission of the culture, knowledge and the history of a society. This paper reports on a research project on combining the power of stories with the new technological tools- digital storytelling to teach social values in an EFL classroom. The focus group is twenty 10-11-year-old students who have been educated in a private school in Turkey. Each group chose a story focusing on social values and created their digital stories to share with a partner school in another country. All the groups were tested and interviewed to gather information about their awareness of social values; oral language skills and the effect of using ICT in language teaching. The results show that by integrating ICT and EFL to create digital stories developed students’ awareness of social values; their oral language skills and ICT skills. During the DST preparing stages, students felt the need to internalize the main message given in the story. Thus, they not only developed their perspective on social values but also English language and ICT skills.
