Abstract: Enjoy a tour of NASA’s STEAM Innovation Lab. This lab is a collaborative thinktank and makerspace where NASA scientists, engineers, educators and NSSEC partners are invited to explore, create and share new ideas related to the infusion of educational technology practices into STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) activities, programs, and approaches. This replicable program strives to bring NASA’s universe of knowledge into educational spaces around the country and to increase scientific literacy and interest. The lab continually identifies and incorporates research-based ideas technologies into existing and new space science education programs and testing facilities at the University of North Texas (UNT) Research Center. UNT conducts an empirical research design on top of an evaluation process to produce data that can be used both for formative assessment as well as the long-term impacts of the program. The latter is determined through longitudinal studies in which students are tracked for several years beyond the program to determine if positive outcomes persist. This year we will launch the STEAM Innovation Outpost Network. Through the network you will be able to connect to a growing community of other NASA Outposts around the world eager to Create, Explore and Share their NASA-based ideas! Visit the STEAM Innovation Lab website for more information and don’t forget to subscribe to the lab’s Dispatch! http://steaminnovationlab.org/ Troy Cline: NASA STEAM Innovation Lab Director Lani Sasser: NASA STEAM Innovation Lab Specialist Eddie Gonzales: NASA STEAM Innovation Lab Network Lead Carolyn Ng: NASA Informal Education Specialist
