Abstract: Research suggests that Millennials demonstrate reduced abilities in creative processing skills. Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) have struggled to provide millennial prrservice teachers (PST) with practices that promote creativity. The study utilized the concepts of constraint-based model of novelty (C-BMN; creativity problem, constraints, variability, and problem spaces) as the framework to examine the topic, along with the NEW rubric to assess data relating to constraints impact on creativity among 90 millennial PST. The C-BMN posits that design constraints positively influence an individual’s creative problem solving. Kruskal-Wallis H and ANOVA inferential statistics compared differences in creativity as measured by the NEW Rubric scores for novelty, effectiveness, wholeness, and total creativity. Results indicated a statistically significant difference in caption total creativity scores between at least one pair of constraint groups.
