Abstract: How does artificial intelligence change the knowledge and skills that teachers will need to navigate educational technology? With the introduction of “intelligent” (AI) systems that use techniques like natural language processing (NLP) and/or machine learning, a new skill set may be required for teachers to be able to question the ethical uses and data privacy capabilities of these systems. The authors propose revising the skills and knowledge needed for teachers as these advanced technologies are implemented within schools. They propose starting by investigating areas around computational thinking, data literacy, and data privacy.
