Biography
My name is Dr. Karen McFerrin. My present role in the educational system is as an professor of graduate level educational technology within the College of Education & Human Development at NSU.
I serve as the Coordinator of the M.Ed. in Educational Technology Leadership and the Ed.S. in Educational Leadership Technology and the M.A.in Adult & Continuing Education programs.
I teach courses such as Technology Leadership in Schools, Professional Development for K-12 Technology Integration, Advanced Telecommunications & Distance Education, Trends & Issues in Educational Technology Leadership, Educational Technology Internship, Technology & Cognition, Seminar in Current Research in Technology, and Field Study Defense. In adult ed, I teach Program Development, Teaching Adults, and Adult Literacy.
I am a former certified middle school English and social studies teacher and am certified as a secondary counselor. My Ed.D. is in educational leadership and instruction with a concentration in educational technology, master's is in student personnel services, and undergraduate degree is in political science and sociology. Let's just say I have an eclectic academic background. And I don't know what I will major in next -- I am thinking carpentry at the technical college.
