Reminders about SITE Interactive 2021 and NTLS Emerging Leaders

Posted Aug. 7, 2021 3:44 a.m. by DanahHenriksen

Hello! We you are doing well! We are writing to members of the Creativity, Design Thinking, & Innovation SIG with a couple of reminders

First we wanted to remind everyone that the SITE Interactive 2021 Conference (a SITE online conference this fall) is scheduled for October 26-28 and its call for submissions is due on September 10, 2021.

The conference will focus on the improvement of practice and mentoring. Sessions will be highly interactive to model best practices that can be adopted by participants. You can find all the details related to SITE Interactive at https://site.aace.org/online/.

We hope that if you have practices or work you are doing aligned with creativity, design or innovation, that you may consider submitting for the conference to this SIG.

Additionally, below this note is a call for the NTLS Emerging Leaders program, which has more information about this program and its sponsorship through SITE. If this interests you, please scroll to the bottom for details on how to submit an application.

Thank you!

Sincerely, Creativity, Design Thinking, & Innovation SIG Chairs Danah Henriksen and William Cain

2021 NTLS Emerging Leaders Program

SITE is committed to rectifying issues stemming from a lack of diversity in educational leadership, particularly in the field of educational technology. To that end, SITE has opened a call for self-nominations of SITE members to participate in the 2021 NTLS Emerging Leaders Program.

Who Are Emerging Leaders?

Emerging Leaders are early career faculty who have shown the potential to become leaders in their chosen education-related field. They leverage their diverse backgrounds and perspectives as they work with others to address issues in education and educational technology. They are eager to learn about the challenges and opportunities of education in the 21st century, willing to work to address those issues, and comfortable making personal connections with others.

What Will the Emerging Leader Do?

The 2021 Emerging Leader will attend the National Technology Leadership Summit as a full participant. In its 21st year, the National Technology Leadership Summit (NTLS) brings together approximately 50 national leaders in education and educational technology for two days of working sessions that address the most pressing issues in our field. Attendees of this invitation-only summit include presidents of educational associations, editors of educational technology journals, directors of non-profit foundations, federal policy makers, and corporate representatives. The 2021 NTLS will be held in person in Washington, D. C. on September 23-24. The 2021 Emerging Leader must commit to attending both days of NTLS 2021.

As full participants in the summit, the Emerging Leader will work with fellow attendees in small working groups that extend well beyond the two-day summit. In addition, the Emerging Leader will have continuing access to summit participants who will serve as leadership mentors. There is no cost to the Emerging Leader to attend, and SITE will support up to $1,500 for travel and lodging expenses.

How Do I Apply?

Submit a current CV and a 1-2 paragraph cover letter, which details your interest in educational technology leadership and how your diverse background/perspective informs your work. Also, include a brief description of your involvement with SITE to date and your interest in participating in SITE in the future.

Submit the cover letter and CV to tinyurl.com/EmergingLeader2021.

Applications are due by Monday, August 9 at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern). The Emerging Leader will be notified by Friday, August 13. Contact jcohen@gsu.edu with any questions.
