Abstract: The concept of Distance Learning - Enrichment (DL-E) is presented as an alternative to the conventional model of distance learning. Traditionally, an instructor uses computers and/or telecommunications in reaching out to teach students located near or far away. The new concept of DL-E is generally focused on using these resources to bring special enrichment programming into a classroom or computer lab. The DL-E concept has proven itself to be especially appropriate for island communities of the Pacific Region. It is proposed that a simple Distance Learning - Enrichment Tool Kit (DL-ETK) could be assembled in a transportable case and used to support these types of activities in a wide variety of educational environments. This session will present/demonstrate: Nicenet Internet Classroom Assistant, TAPPED IN virtual campus, and iVisit videoconferencing systems. Examples of projects using these and the DL-E concept will be present.
