Utilizing Technology to Disseminate Native American Culturally Diverse Special Education Lessons and Training

Abstract: Demonstration of Bilingual Multicultural Special Education Website developed as a component of five Federal Education Grants to disseminate information and products from each Grant. Website demonstration of Searchable Database of Native American Culturally Diverse Special Education lesson plans. Educators interested in obtaining culturally relevant Special Education lesson plans can search the lesson plans database by Culture, Language, Grade or Grant program. From these four categories the lessons plans are divided by content area. Once a content area is chosen, the database user can view a brief description of the Special Education lesson plan and then print, and/or save the entire lesson plan in Adobe PDF format. Demonstration includes PowerPoint Training of Trainers presentations developed by Native American students in the grant classes. Lesson plans and PowerPoint training modules incorporate indigenous cultures and languages into the special education lessons and training.
