Abstract: This paper presents a grant project that explored technology integration models in teacher education programs at six diverse universities. In addition to describing the models, the paper analyzes the structure of the models through the development process arriving at some specific data-based factors for successful integration. The StarTEC (Staff, Teacher, and Restructured Technology Education Consortium) was a three-year (1999-2002) technology catalyst program funded by the United States Department of Education Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to use Technology (PT3) Program. The single overriding goal of the StarTEC project was that all future teachers prepared by the Consortium's Institutions of Higher Education partners would meet the new California standard in technology required for the California Preliminary Teaching Credential and/or the Professional Clear Credential. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the processes used for successful integration of technology in higher education in the project.
