Abstract: This paper proposes case-based teacher education modules, called GIDE, to promote the effective use of information and communication technology (ICT) in constructivist pedagogical activities. The GIDE modules constitutes the following four preliminary modules: 1) Guiding student collaboration, 2) Internalizing students¡¯ self-directed learning, 3) Distributing responsibilities and expertise across students, and 4) Evaluating students learning in a new way. Each module will be designed as case-based experiences, which provides teachers with authentic and pedagogically dilemmatic situations. In addition, cognitive resources to coach teachers to solve the given tasks will be designed to set in each module. An elaboration of activity systems theory will be discussed and used as a framework for designing the GIDE modules.
