Working Smarter to Maximise Returns From Educational Technologies

Keynote ID: 19275
  1. Ron Oliver
    Edith Cowan University

Abstract: Educational institutions, as a matter of course today, spend considerable funds on information and communications technologies (ICT). No longer is technology considered innovative. For many institutions ICT is a necessary component of their course delivery. But the gains from ICT use are often seen to be minimal and understated. This presentation will explore typical patterns of ICT use in education to reveal where potential outcomes and opportunities are frequently missed. The presentation will demonstrate strategies that can value-add and significantly increase returns. In particular the presentation will showcase strategies where by working smarter rather than harder, ICT applications can be made to support more learning, better learning and better learners.
