Abstract: In this paper we present a theoretical framework for effective teaching and learning in the 21st century that incorporates the use of effective and appropriate educational media. We focus on learning activities that exemplify pedagogy as knowing in action and consider the ways in which this enables a transformation of teaching and learning in schools. We provide examples of the ways in which this can be implemented in learning elements that include the effective use of new technologies.
