Defense Acquisition University’s Selection and Integration of Advanced Learning Technologies

Abstract: Defense Acquisition University (DAU), a recognized leader in providing comprehensive learning assets to the Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (AT&L) workforce and other organizations, has partnered with the George Mason University (GMU) Instructional Technology Immersion Program to conduct comprehensive research on existing and advanced learning technologies to improve workforce knowledge and productivity. Based on research, an advanced learning technologies selection system was created with the following components: 1) Decision component, which focuses on implementation factors and learning objectives. 2) Training/Best Practices, which provides examples to showcase and how they can be utilized. 3) User Community, which creates an online user community to facilitate knowledge sharing. 4) Resources, which provides research on social media, virtual worlds/games and simulations, and mobile technologies and based on usage, best practices, and instructional application.
