Improving Achievement Through Rubric-Driven Web 2.0 Multimedia Projects
Abstract: This study examines the design and use of an instructional rubric to guide the use of Web 2.0 multimedia tools such as EduGlogster. The Web 2.0 tool allows students to create online multimedia posters and comment on end products. The rubric design is aligned with the new Common Core standards for reading, writing, and speaking for history, science, and technical subjects and incorporates collaboration features inherent in Web 2.0 technology. Results show that the rubric encourages higher order thinking, fosters reading comprehension of informational text, and positive social interaction. Presentation will focus on best practice with student examples and use in online and face-to-face classrooms.
