Abstract: In 2005 Google released Google Earth, a virtual globe with map and geographical information for free. In the years since many educators have used the program to create engaging and effective lessons that help create context and background knowledge for students. This article details how integrating Google Earth into the classroom can be an effective learning tool in a variety of content areas, as well as several examples of how teachers have used Google Earth.
