Abstract: Abstract: This paper describes the factors that need to be assessed when conducting evaluations of professional educational programs offered by distance education. It provides examples and discusses implications when evaluators not only overlook the individual components, but fail to see how the different parts all work together to effect learning, satisfaction, completion rates, and other desired outcomes in distance education systems. Competency is expected of all evaluators, and some organizations require and provide training to ensure evaluators are adequately prepared and competent to conduct program evaluations.
