Abstract: New online instructors can quickly gain confidence and skill in the use of discussion forums without investing in expensive training seminars. Components from instructor lead classes can be used to create a student centered learning environment. This interactive session will examine how to use old test banks to create an instructor reference guide that can be used to create curriculum targeted discussion questions and keep those discussions lively throughout the entire unit. Once the basic design tools are identified, participants will use clickers to work collaboratively through a sample quiz bank to write a discussion forum and identify prompts to help a novice instructor stay active throughout the unit.
