A study on Principle Technology Leadership and the Innovative Teaching

Abstract: This study uses quantity research method to explore the elementary school that might face ICT in school development. Principal technology leadership and school ICT use are the important factors of the teacher teaching and student learning.The principals' role as an educational leader has changed dramatically, while principals have quickly become leaders who promote and support new educational technologies. The interpersonal and communication skills are important antecedents to principals’ effective technology leadership. Technology leadership is a key factor in this elementary school. Leaders who desire to thrive in an information technology environment are seeking active stream of ways that they can mobilize the minds, emotions, energies, and influences of their constituents in such a way that they propel the entire educational system forward. Most staff and teachers could use ICT infrastructure. This study aimed to investigate the current situations and circumstances of elementary school principal technology leadership, school ICT use and teacher teaching. It further explored the correlation and impact of school ICT use. The research methods included literature review and questionnaire survey. The survey objects were elementary school educators across Taiwan area. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, multiple regression analysis and structural equation modeling. School ICT use has the partial mediating effect between principal’s technology leadership and teacher teaching. According to the research findings, some suggestions are proposed for the reference of education administrative units, elementary school principals and teachers, and research staff engaged in future related researches.
