Abstract: In 2012 Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) enhanced its service model by creating an Educational Media Team (EMT). The EMT will contribute to the TLC/SFU strategic direction by attempting to understand how the embedded use of media affects the SFU learning experience, and applying that understanding to faculty development. This paper will outline the mandate of the EMT and the execution of our mandate through i) an ecological perspective on EdMedia, ii) the build of a public media access infrastructure, iii) the design of team member roles to maximize our academic impact, and iv) a cognitive apprenticeship faculty development training model.
