Abstract: Most people view coding (computer programming) as a narrow technical skill, useful only for a small slice of the population. But the ability to code, like the ability to write, is becoming essential for full participation in today’s society. When people learn to code, they learn important strategies for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas – e.g., how to divide complex problems into simpler parts, how to iteratively refine ideas and creations, how to identify and fix bugs.
