Abstract: This poster outlines the challenges faced by UC Berkeley in attempting to implement a system for conducting course evaluations online. The challenges of the Berkeley campus for this project include: 1) a commitment to open-source solutions, 2) legacy systems for student data, and 3) a current model for on-paper administration that is decentralized and varies across academic units. By running an open and data-driven process, we have successfully conducted several medium sized pilots, are in the process of conducting a large comparative experiment (on-paper vs. online administration), and are planning to have a full-scale solution ready by Winter 2014.
