Abstract: “Online communities evoke excitement, anger, boredom, dissent, and commitment – often all at the same time!” (Linn, 2009) In this session, the speaker will draw on the experience of incorporating group book study blogs in a blended course to engage doctoral students of Educational Leadership in collaborative online learning communities. Self and peer assessment data from fall 2009 and fall 2012 will be used to frame a “best practice” discussion concerning the development of self-regulating professional learning communities. Expect exposure to student reflections on their experience and to engage in discussion about the pitfalls and successes.
