Abstract: Beginning in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1987, EdMedia conferences have been held 25 times (including the 2013 conference in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) under the auspices of the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE). Originally known as the International Conference on Computers and Learning (ICCAL), the EdMedia title was introduced in 1993, and has been used ever since with slight changes in its subtitle from time to time. One of the unique aspects of EdMedia is its history of rotating between Canada, Europe, and the USA, reflecting the origins of the co-founders of the conference, including AACE Fellows Hermann Maurer and Ivan Tomek. In addition to peer reviewing, a highly valued characteristic of EdMedia has always been its truly international participation, more than justifying its current subtitle as the “World Conference on Educational Media and Technology.” In this presentation, Tom Reeves (also an AACE Fellow) will reflect back on presentations made at the past 25 EdMedia conferences in a manner that will be both reverent and irreverent with the overall goal of encouraging at least another quarter century of EdMedia.
