Abstract: With multiple campuses and academic centers around the world, NYU has been seeking innovative ways to connect students and bring learning into a global context. With collaborative tools such as video conferencing, web conferencing, and collaborative writing spaces, the global classroom provides students with a channel to the world. Its intention is to build connections and establish collaborations across vast physical spaces in order to explore the global within the frame of the local. NYU’s Global Technology Services’ experience in developing courses for the global classroom is reflected in a series of best practices, which demonstrate notable successes and lessons learned.
