Share Paper: Creating Math Learning Environments for Indigenous Students through E-books

Abstract: The main purpose of this one-year case study was to create mathematics learning environments for indigenous students through culture-based math e-books. The researcher led the "Tribal Math Volunteers" to enter an indigenous tribe, Jayama, and designed culture-based math e-books for indigenous students of tribal elementary schools. Through five stages of guidance, the participants worked together to develop two sets of culture-based math e-books in total. Five major data were collected in this one-year case study to understand how the researcher created math learning environments and the appropriation of these environments for indigenous students.
