Abstract: The Media Literacy Lab focuses on designing open online courses, projects and activities within the field of media education. Instead of putting priority on instructional aspects the intention is to enable learners and learning communities to use digital chances for problem-oriented and interest-driven learning as well as collaboration. The project based format, subsequently referred to as pMOOC, facilitates collaborative learning within open online courses. In this context openness not only implies that courses are open to everyone interested, but it also indicates that the infrastructure is open and mostly open-license technologies are being used.
