Share Paper: The Affordances of Online Learning Augmented by Team Teaching and Animated Pedagogical Agents for Pre-service Teachers

Abstract: Team teaching is a well-known instructional approach but not often carried out by animated pedagogical agents. This study was conducted to find out if such approach offers affordances and how they are related to learners’ characteristics. Survey and content analysis were used to collect and analyse data. Findings showed that there was a strong affordance for content learnability followed by affordance for interest in the lesson and last affordance for presentation likability. Main reasons for the observed affordances were good lesson interactivity, sound lesson organisation, useful content and interesting agents.
