Developing a Quality Enhancement Framework for Collaborative Online Courses – Building on Constructivism with a Design Science in Information Systems Approach

In this article, an on-going case study is presented, in which an online course quality enhancement (QE) framework for collaborative online courses is being developed. The objective is to guide and support the development, implementation and evaluation of collaborative online courses within the case organisation. The Design Science Research in Information Systems (DSRIS) -framework by Hevner et al. (2004) has been utilised during the development and evaluation of the model. This case study has shown that design approach can be effectively utilised in developing a quality enhancement framework for collaborative online courses and the chosen learning theory significantly guides the design process.
