Abstract: The affordances of online collaboration platforms make them increasingly popular. Although many of these platforms are well designed, very often, teams adopting these platforms in their projects realize little value because of the lack of engagement and collaboration in these platforms. Gamification has emerged as having broad applicability in a plethora of domains and contexts. As such, the promise of gamification has recently attracted the attention of practitioners and researchers alike. In this paper we propose a design for a social gamified platform called NgageCollab, to leverage the potential benefits of gamification and social networking. NgageCollab was designed to provide a team learning solution to foster engagement and collaboration amongst a team of researchers through play and online social interaction.
