Abstract: In the last decade several emerging innovations in online teaching and learning like the MOOCs and various multimedia and social collaborative tools, have made faculty in higher education rethink the way we teach and learn within the framework of existing campus based Universities,This presentation will focus on the design, development and implementation process of a K-15 certificate program in Online Teaching and Learning at California State University, Los Angeles. The presentation will highlight a year long process of research in online pedagogy, various emerging technology tools (Multimedia and collaborative), extensive research on existing online programs within U.S.A, the design, development and approval of the curriculum. The presentation will also share lessons learned, and challenges associated with both development and implementation of the certificate program. This presentation would welcome ideas, suggestions and best practices from the global community of conference
