Abstract: In making the case for proper literacy this author finds that it is of the utmost importance that we continue to explore a wide range of options made available by the advancement of technology on the street and in the hands of students at school if we are to provide students with the skills necessary to compete in an ever-changing global market, dependent on a multimodal array of technologies. The utilization of these new and innovative web 2.0 technologies will also help teachers to foster engaging learning environments where students will come, eager and wanting to learn.
