The increased need to use ICT and social media in education has been recognized in the teacher training at Tampere University of Applied Sciences School of Vocational Teacher Education (TAOKK). The skills and positions of teacher students towards the use of social media were explored through a case study including the collection of narratives before and after a period of intensive use of Google tools. In the first study the material could be divided into four groups based on the skills and willingness of using social media in education. In the second study the material showed considerable changes in the positions and skills of the teacher students to use social media. Based on the study results social media was integrated into the teacher training curriculum at TAOKK, and a program to ensure the teaching staff with the necessary skills was launched.
