Abstract: New technology is frequently being developed for individuals to promote learning, in the form of learning management systems, digital tools, and apps for devices. It is important to look at the pedagogy associated with these tools, the frameworks upon which they are built. This paper address the theoretical framework for the development of a transportation app designed for use by individuals with autism spectrum disorder, highlighting the pedagogical theories and technology associated with the app including situated learning, communities of practice, augmented reality, authentic learning, and intrinsic learning. Potential applications and implications of this framework are discussed.
