Share Paper: Impact and lessons learned from integrating open digital badges in a large lecture pre-service teacher course

Abstract: Research on the impact of open badges on the perceived motivation and learning of course content within a large Intro to Educational Technology course was carried out. Comparisons between participants who completed course assignments via traditional course projects were compared with those that completed similar assignments via course open badges. Purdue University’s Passport badge system was used to create the badges. Implications from the research and lessons learned will be discussed.
