Abstract: This research study examines the impact of one-to-one computing on supporting innovative and effective teaching. During the 2013-2014 school year, MacBook Air laptop computers were provided to teachers and students with funds to offset the costs of a new digital curriculum, technical assistance and professional development. Research was conducted for two school years: fall 2013 to spring 2015, at seven participating schools. Findings suggest that the computer is a tool that is transforming teaching in some schools in the state of Hawaii. This research paper provides some evidence about teacher use and the impacts on teachers and students.
