Abstract: This paper discusses the need for teachers and students to be co-learners in digital and non-digital learning environments. The first case focuses on a group of English pre-service teachers in a teacher preparation program. The pre-service teachers learn to access and effectively use a variety of digital tools in order to participate in synchronous and asynchronous communication. The second case focuses on high school English students who engage in discussion and build consensus on the assessment process for a podcast class project.
