Abstract: This session will focus on the re-design and implementation of an asynchronous, senior level capstone research course at a major research institution. The student audience was made up of mostly learners whose academic career spanned many years, remedial courses, and multiple career choices. For many of them, the course was seen only as “a means to end” necessary in order to matriculate. Using Blackboard, this diverse group of students engaged in a semester-long “soul search” as well as a dramatic introduction to college writing.
