Abstract: Instruction and learning in computer programming courses rely heavily on programming exercises. However, managing programming assignments is plagued with several problems. It is often difficult to duplicate the software development environment that is available in the labs on personal computers; as such, students have to be present in one of the labs to work on programming tasks. Furthermore, collecting students’ program files for evaluation is a tedious and error-prone task. It is also quite difficult to provide students with timely assistance and feedback beyond the class meeting times. This demonstration paper presents a system that provides a web-based programming environment, and thus alleviating the problems associated with lab-centric environments. The system also supports automatic grading of assignments and offers the capability to provide instantaneous feedback to students.
