Abstract: Primary and lower secondary education are the most important steps in a child’s educational career and a very crucial stage of their formative development. Whatever should be done must be done at these stages to ensure that the children are not left behind. Basic economic principles are noticed everywhere from home, school, market etc. as parents transact businesses. Children need to be introduced to these terms. However, little or none of these terms and concepts are directly taught at the lower high school level in Jamaica one of the Islands in the Caribbean, possible reasons include lack of learning resources such as a standalone or web-based DVDs. This study presents a step-by-step ways by which teachers can use local resources available to develop and use a DVD for teaching the young learners the basic economic principles and terms.
