Applications of Flipped Instruction in the Corporate Training Environment
Abstract: The increasing emergence of eLearning and educational technologies in recent years has significantly impacted the instructional methods used in all learning environments. However, many practitioners question if these innovations are authentically benefitting learners. This article proposes how educators in a corporate training environment can engage adult learners in student-centered, constructivist learning opportunities that are inherently able to satisfy their psychological needs through the strategic implementation of a flipped, or blended learning environment. The author explores how the principles of Flipped Instruction, a popular instructional trend in K-12, can benefit the corporate training environment and combat issues of demotivation that are often associated with eLearning initiatives, such as perceived lack of support, isolation, and insufficient readiness. Through the use of an ordinal coding device, the author evaluated 97 articles in order to recommend this model.
